What is Climate House?

Climate House is a proposed national destination where nature, heritage, learning, innovation and community come together.

Developed through the LIFE IP Peatlands and People project, it is envisioned as a place where people can explore the connections between landscape, culture and the future. Through immersive experiences, outdoor exploration, learning programmes and collaborative spaces, Climate House will inspire curiosity, understanding and action. At its heart, Climate House is about connection:

    Experience Nature in Action

    The Regenerative Park will provide opportunities to explore living landscapes, biodiversity and restoration first-hand. Connecting people with the natural environment, it will showcase how nature-based solutions can support healthy ecosystems, resilient communities and thriving landscapes.

  • The Marconi Centre

    Located on the historic RTÉ transmission site, the Marconi Centre will celebrate the site's unique communications heritage and its role in connecting communities across Ireland. Through stories, exhibitions and shared memories, it will connect visitors with the people, innovations and ideas that shaped modern Ireland.

Why Now?

Ireland is entering a period of significant environmental and societal change.

Across the country, communities, businesses, researchers and policymakers are responding to challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and landscape restoration. Climate House seeks to bring these conversations together in one place. It is envisioned as a destination where people can experience positive action in practice, learn from real-world examples and explore the opportunities emerging from change.

Why the Midlands?

Few places are better positioned to tell this story than the Midlands.

For generations, the region has played a central role in Ireland's development. Today it is once again adapting and evolving through restoration, renewable energy, tourism, recreation and innovation. Located at Moydrum, close to Athlone, Crosswood Bog and the Old Rail Trail Greenway, Climate House aims to become a landmark destination for the Midlands that reflects the region's spirit of resilience, transformation and renewal.
