  • Climate House Ireland is an ambition and a project to build a new centre in the midlands of Ireland, dedicated to tackling climate change, restoring biodiversity, and designing more sustainable futures. It will combine nature, innovation, community and engagement in one inspiring place, offering visitors and businesses immersive experiences, opportunities to collaborate and build capacity, and a chance to explore restored landscapes.

  • The 4,000 square metre, world-class facilities will be situated in the Midlands of Ireland, a landscape shaped by generations of interactions between people and nature. The exact site has not yet been confirmed.

  • No. The project is currently in development. While the concept, design and vision are well advanced, we are now engaging with supporters, partners and communities to bring it to life.

  • Visitors will be able to explore three interconnected elements:

    • Encounter Experience: An immersive journey through living landscapes and storytelling spaces including a rainforest atrium and different interactive “Storytelling Spheres”.

    • Futures Hub: A collaborative space for changemakers to collaborate, businesses and corporates to build capacity for the green transition, and experts to share solutions and drive action.

    • Regenerative Park: Restored ecosystems like wetlands, woodland and meadows, with boardwalks, gardens, art trails and citizen science opportunities.

  • The midlands offer a landscape that has long been defined by the interaction of people and nature. It is a region undergoing transformation, making it the ideal context for a project dedicated to regeneration, innovation, and global impact - a new home for hopeful and collective climate action in Ireland’s heartlands.

  • The concept has been developed by the Peatlands and People Foundation, supported by the EU LIFE Integrated Project. The Foundation is committed to advancing the project for local benefit and with expert local leadership. Together, we are committed to creating a place that inspires hope, creativity, and meaningful action.

  • Climate House Ireland will:

    • Immerse and inspire visitors through playful storytelling and hands-on learning.

    • Showcase sustainable design and innovation.

    • Support changemakers and accelerate positive community and business transformation.

    • Build capacity to respond to climate and biodiversity challenges.

    • Deliver long-lasting ecological, economic, and social benefits locally and globally.

  • We are eager to connect with potential collaborators and site partners who share our vision. Your ideas, resources, and partnerships will help shape Climate House Ireland into a vibrant hub of solutions and inspiration.

  • As the site is not yet confirmed and development is ongoing, we do not have an opening date. Updates will be shared as the project progresses.

  • Yes. Community input is central to the project. From public consultations to creative workshops, we want Climate House Ireland to reflect the hopes and ambitions of people across Ireland and beyond.

    Initial consultations were conducted with community groups, companies, researchers, and local authorities. We’ll be launching more events and engagements in the area over the coming year, so keep an eye out for how you can get involved.

  • Businesses will be able to use Climate House Ireland as a place to learn, connect, and grow in the green transition. Companies can:

    • Host company days in a unique and inspiring setting.

    • Access tailored programmes to build capacity and resilience for a sustainable future.

    • Train teams to adapt to the challenges and opportunities of the green transition.

    • Collaborate with innovators and changemakers in the Futures Hub.

    • Enjoy the Encounter Experience, an immersive journey designed to inspire new ways of thinking and acting.

  • Families will be welcome to explore both the Encounter Experience and the Outdoor Regenerative Park. Together, you can:

    • Take an immersive journey through storytelling and living landscapes in the Encounter Experience.

    • Wander through wetlands, woodlands and meadows in the Regenerative Park, discovering boardwalks, gardens and art trails.

    • Join in hands-on learning and citizen science activities, making it a fun and educational day out, and learning how you can bring climate action back to your own daily life and community.

  • School groups will be able to use Climate House Ireland as an inspiring outdoor classroom. Students can:

    • Experience the Encounter Experience, connecting with nature and climate action through interactive storytelling.

    • Explore the Regenerative Park, observing living ecosystems and learning how healthy habitats support life.

    • Take part in educational workshops and citizen science projects designed to support climate literacy and empowering students of all ages to become agents of change for positive climate action in their own lives.
